Without our volunteers, there would be no Toys for Tots. So please read these words from the 2010 Toys for Tots after action report from the Detachment's Toys for Tots coordinator. This is what you helped achieve:

The results for the year are:

Toys collected:      32,470
Children served:    11,408

...we saw a large increase in the volunteers assisting us in the work we do.  We had 85 people give of their time and energy to help in our work providing toys to needy children.  Some, like the Fairfax Volunteers for Change, have been with us since the beginning; others like the Young Marines from Winchester joined us this year and provided quality service.   We had corporate folks give of their time and we had some great neighbors from River Creek gas up their cars and vans and go out to deliver boxes and pick up toys.  We had families that gave a weekend to help others and many young men and women from area high schools come out to lend a hand.  In every case, not only were they willing to help but they were genuinely nice people and I'm glad to count them as "friends of Marines."

As we get ready to close out the year with the obligatory paperwork, I want to personally thank each and everyone who contributed to this successful year.   This has been quite a team and I look forward to working with you again in the future.   On behalf of the Marines of the Marine Corps League Detachment, and 11,408 children who had a Christmas, I wish each of you a happy, prosperous and wonderful New Year.   Thank you for your service.

Semper Fi,

John
